A large rare Murano glass, tear drop shaped pink and white lamp by Lino Tagliapietra for La Murrina, Italy 1960s. With single brass fitting inside. Re wired with antique cord flex and switch and PAT tested. The glass work is absolutely stunning quality with beautiful pink and white lines and is a very rare model in excellent condition with no damage or chips. Etched on the back of the base “La Murrina”

The La Murrina company was founded in the 1960s as a small business started by a group of glass-worker masters. In 1974, La Murrina was bought by a family from Milan. Lino Tagliapietra has been one of the central figures in the modern Renaissance of the art of Venetian glassblowing. Born in Murano , Venice in 1934. He became an apprentice glassblower at age 11. Even at a young age Lino exhibited an immense dexterity for glass and was appointed the title of “Maestro” when he was just 21. He is one of the most famous glass ‘Maestros’ in the world. An apprentice in the studio of the internationally renowned master Archimede Seguso, in his long career he has experimented with the finest working techniques and exhibited as an artist in prestigious museums such as the Victoria and Albert in London, the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.Recognized as one of the greatest exponents of the contemporary art of glass, It is no exaggeration to say that he has influenced the course of glass history by helping to raise the standards of craftsmanship in glass.
