A lovely Art Deco 1939 stoneware lamp by Wilhelm Kåge, for Gustavsberg, Sweden. Designed with the iconic mottled green base, which was produced by copper oxide and decorated with a mythological mermaid with a string of bubbles rising up to the rim, all in the iconic silvered, hand painted and chiselled finish. Stamped on the base with date letter "I" which indicates 1939. Rewired with new brass fittings, antique gold cord flex and PAT tested.
Designed by artistic director Wilhelm Kåge, "Argenta" became one of the most commercially successful and recognisable in the history of Scandinavian ceramics.
